Does Traceless change my original photos? No. Traceless only ever writes cleaned copies. Your originals are left exactly as they were.
Does anything get uploaded? No. The app has no networking code at all. Everything happens on your device.
Why did a file get re-encoded? Apple’s imaging frameworks cannot strip a C2PA provenance manifest from a container. When one survives the fast pass, Traceless decodes and re-encodes the image from raw pixels, which is the only way to guarantee it is gone. The detail screen tells you which method was used.
Why is some metadata still there? Check your cleaning profile. Anything other than Maximum deliberately keeps some categories. Open the “Remaining” tab on a file to see exactly what is left.
